Canadians Find Reminders of Home in Apeldoorn
March 19, 2010 – There is a strong piece of history that ties Canada to Apeldoorn. In 1945 it was Canadian
soldiers that helped liberate the city and there are several memorials that commemorate the event. Directly
across the street from the hotel where the Canadian Track Team is staying for the pre-worlds training camp
is the “Man with Two Hats”, a statue depicting the friendship between our two nations, and who happens
to be standing on maple leafs.
Para-Cycling Training Camp Well Under Way
March 19, 2010 - The Para-cycling spring training camp started last week-end and over the course of 3 days,
all athletes, staff and guests arrived safely to Varadero, Cuba. Under the supervision of National coach, Eric
Van den Eynde, the 2 weeks camp will feature a total of 15 athletes, 5 coaches, 3 IST guests and short visit
from Canadian Cyclist Editor, Rob Jones and CCA Para-cycling coordinator, Julie Hutsebaut.

doubles in Phoenix
March 18, 2010 – Tory Nyhaug won the junior male class on Saturday
and Sunday of the UCI races in Phoenix last weekend. The weekend was one
of the hardest UCI races of the year so far, with the who’s who
from the international world of BMX was in attendance.

March 17, 2010 – The Canadian team is spending 2-3 hours at the
Omnisport Velodrome as they tapper leading in to next weeks World Championships.

March 15, 2010 - The Hamilton Foundation and the Canadian Cycling Association
is pleased to announce that the application process for the 2010 carding
cycle will begin March 15, 2010 and close March 29th, 2010.

Development Training Camp
March 15, 2010 - The Para-cycling Development Program would like to invite
upcoming para-cyclists to its Eastern Development Training Camp, being
held in Bromont, QC, from April 19-24. A similar camp will be held in
Calgary from June 2-6.

March 12, 2010 – The Canadian Track Cycling Team is fine tuning
their training regime and equipment as they prepare to travel to Copenhagen
for the World Championships March 24-28, 2010.

The CCA would like to announce a minor wording change in its Road cycling
Carding criteria document on pages 13 and 14. The word “unless”
has been added on two occasions in the sentence that reads: * Stage race
“prologues” are not considered unless they are more than 3km
in length”
Paralympic
torch relay – paracylists involved
March 8, 2010 – On day 2 of the Paralympic Torch Relay, last Thursday,
Trike rider, Shelley Gauthier was given a one time life experience as
she was selected to be a torch bearer.
