- Cloutier-Chalifour lose bid
for fifth title
Montreal, July 15, 2007 – The Alex Cloutier and
Daniel Chalifour tandem lost its bid for a fifth national
title losing the 200-metre time trial to Brian Cowie
and Devon Flibert of B.C., on Sunday at the Tim Hortons
Track Nationals cycling competition.
The winners clocked 11.734 seconds while the Quebec
pair clocked 11.996. Stéphane Côté
and Pierre-Olivier Boily were third in 12.208.
Cloutier and Chalifour won national titles in four of
their five events: the road race, the time trial, the
one kilometre and the 200 time trial.
Some of the final events on Sunday were cancelled due
to rain. In the Masters A and B categories the first
round winners were awarded the national titles. Frank
Kovacz took the Masters A (30-39) title and Peter Toth
the Masters B (40-49) crown.
