Road Selection Announcements


U23 MEN:

The Canadian Cycling Association will be entering the following U23 men in the Tour de l’Avenir in France, which will be held from September 6 to 15:

Christian Meier
David Veilleux
Ryan Anderson
Éric Boily
Brad Fairall
Keven Lacombe

Final selection for the road race at the road world championships (Stuttgart, Germany, September 26-30) will be made from among these riders based on an assessment of their performances at the Tour de l’Avenir.

Canada may enter as many as five athletes in the road race and two athletes in the time trial.

David Veilleux and Christian Meier are selected for the time trial, with Brad Fairall as alternate.

ELITE WOMEN:

The Canadian Cycling Association will be entering the following elite women in the Tour de l’Ardèche in France, which will be held from September 11 to 15:

Moriah Jo McGregor
Alex Wrubleski
Allison Testroete
Erinne Willock
Julie Beveridge
(National road champion Gina Grain declined selection in order to focus on the track)

Final selection for the road world championships (Stuttgart, Germany, September 26-30) will be made from among these riders.

National champion Anne Samplonius is automatically selected for the time trial and will not attend the Tour de l’Ardèche in order to prepare specifically for this event. National championships silver medalist Lyne Bessette declined selection.

Canada may enter as many as six athletes in the road race and two athletes in the time trial.

ELITE MEN:

There will be no pre-worlds program for the elite men. Canada may enter as many as three athletes in the road race and two athletes in the time trial.

The third road rider and two alternates will be nominated on September 15 based on international results to that date from among the following athletes who met the minimum performance criteria:
