July 1st and 3rd, 2009 at the National Road Cycling Championships, St-Georges de Beauce.

CCA medical history form (PDF)

Ottawa, June 16, 2009 – The Canadian Cycling Association is proud to offer a cycling classification for the para-cyclists athletes competing at the National Road Cycling Championships. (Please note that this service will be offered prioritising athletes competing at this given event. Any other athlete interested shall send a request to the para-cycling coordinator mentioned below.) There will only be one team present so there will be no protests allowed.

This will enable athletes to receive or confirm their sport class and sport class status. This classification is MANDATORY for athletes whom never been classified in para-cycling and shall occur BEFORE the athlete’s event. Therefore, if you have never received a classification before and wish to participate to the individual time trial, you must make an appointment for Wednesday July 1st. Two UCI (Union cycliste internationale) sanctioned representatives will be on site at the National Road Cycling Championships to process to the technical and practical assessment of the athletes.

The assessments will take place at the Georgesville Hotel in St-Georges de Beauce, Wednesday July 1, 2009, from 9:00 to 16:00 and Friday, July 3, 2009, from 9:00 to 16:00. The appointment will be conducted privately, in a specific board room clearly identified at the reception of the hotel. You are requested to arrive 15 min prior your appointment time and expect 1h30 for the completion of your assessment. Please, have in your possession your full medical history (a specific form will be available and posted on line shortly), official picture indentification , cycling clothes and your bicycle for the practical assessment.

It is strongly recommended to register prior to your arrival on the competition site by contacting para-cyclist coordinator, Julie Hutsebaut (contacts below), clearly indicating your name, category of disability and the time and date that will be at your best convenience (a confirmation will then be sent to you). It will also be possible to register on site, depending on the remaining availability.

Finally, you are invited to a short information session hosted by the Canadian Cycling Association, Friday July 3 at 17:00, at Hotel Le Georgesville (room to be confirmed). Para-cycling coordinator, Julie Hutsebaut and para-cycling national coach, Eric Van den Eynde will present you the remaining 2009 National Team Program and different development programs. All are welcome and no registration is required.

For any additional information, please contact Julie Hutsebaut at para@canadian-cycling.com, 613 248-1353, extension #2609.

The Canadian Cycling Association is the recognized authority by the UCI on all aspects of sport cycling in Canada.
