01.20.11 - CCA BMX Supercross
Camps – Development and ID camp and National team
camp
The CCA is pleased to announce two Supercross (SX)
camps. The first camp is a development and ID camp to
introduce more athletes to SX style BMX tracks and to
identify athletes for future national team projects.
Athletes selected to the camp will have to have had
proven results in the 2010 season and shown the skills
necessary to be successful on the SX track. Athletes
will receive coaching from the national team coach,
provincial coaches and national team athletes. Through-out
the camp the athletes will be monitored and tested.
Athletes that excel on the SX track may be invited to
the national team camp in Chula Vista on March 9th to
15th, 2011. The second camp will be for national team
athletes and athletes with proven experience on the
SX track.
Development and ID Camp
Camp Date: February 15th to 20th, 2011
Location: Speedworld BMX, Surprise, AZ, USA
Funding: Self-funding of approx. $675 (includes track
time, coaching, transportation and accommodations) doesn’t
include Airfare or transportation to Phoenix.
Team size: 8 athletes - The CCA reserves the right to
vary the Team size.
Selection: Athletes will be selected
by performances obtained in the 2010 season and/or shown
skills necessary to be successful on the SX track. Athletes
17 and over (1994 and earlier) will have priority.
Athletes interested in being selected for the camp need
to apply to adam.muys@canadian-cycling.com by January
23rd, 2011. The BMX selection advisory committee will
meet to discuss the athletes for selection. Selection
will be posted on January 25th 2011.
National team camp
Camp Date: March 9th to 15th
Location: Chula Vista, CA, USA
Funding: 3 level funding depending on tier.
Selection: Athletes selected by performances
at SX World Cups and World Championships in the 2010
season, as well as athletes from the development camp
that excelled on the SX track.
