Women South Carolina Bound – Feb. 17-27, 2011
Sixteen athletes from across the country have converged
on the excellent roads near Seneca, SC for a National
Team training camp. In conjunction with Canadian Sports
Centre Ontario (CSCO), the Canadian Cycling Association
(CCA) will host up and coming riders from three cycling
sports – road, mountain bike and track - for nine
days of training on road bikes. Along with testing their
legs on the hills and dales of the Appalachian Mountains,
athletes will get the chance to partake in several educational/physical
seminars including:
Recovery and Regeneration strategies and technique
- ongoing during the camp and will focus on
proper rest between workouts, good nutrition on and
off the bike and limited massage.
Post ride training - (Yoga, Pilates)
- done in a controlled setting and will be adapted to
athletes' current ability
Sports Psychology (goal setting; visualization;
distraction control) - athletes will be given a tool
to analyze past performances and set goals for this
season and the future.
Nutrition for High Performance: a guest
speaker from Clemson University will lead this presentation.
Bike fit – an initiative using the Retul system.
Suggestions will be provided that the athlete can discuss
with her personal coach.
