06.03.11 -One hundred
thirty riders expected for the 26th Tour de Beauce
Saint-Georges, June 3, 2011 – The 26th Tour de
Beauce is planning to welcome 18 teams, made up of more
than 130 riders, to the starting line this coming June
14.
The organizers are more than satisfied with the teams
selected as much by their number as by their quality,
and anticipate that the calibre will be very strong
in the tradition of previous years, while presenting
a consistently strong pack made up of several teams
able to win the race.
Canadians will once again be well represented with
6 teams, most notably Pro Continental : Spidertech powered
by C10 under the leadership of Steve Bauer, along with
captain Svein Tuft, winner of the 2008 Tour de Beauce,
and many other talented riders. The Canadian National
Team is another one to watch with a selection of the
best cyclists out there plus Dominique Rollin who is
back competing after an injury at the start of the season.
Completing the Canadian delegation will be Garneau Club
Chaussures, Le Gaspésien, Rocky Mountain and
H&R Block.
The United States will be represented by a strong delegation,
with two Pro Continental teams, Type 1 - Sanofi Aventis
and UnitedHealthCare plus the Continentals : Chipotle
Development Team, Realcyclist.com with directeur sportif
Gord Fraser and Kenda - 5-Hour Energy with the winner
of the 2007 and 2010 Tours, Ben Day.
Among the foreign teams are the returning Amore &
Vita registered in the Ukraine, V Australia, and Champion
System of Hong Kong with Ed Beamon at the helm, surely
the directeur sportif with the most victories at the
Tour de Beauce. Add to them Team PureBlack Racing of
New Zealand, the British teams Motorpoint and Raleigh,
as well as Team Fuji-Cyclingtime.com of Japan who is
directed by Sébastien Pilote of Quebec.
