07.22.11 - Two
stages for the cyclists of the Tour!
Amos, July 21st 2011 - Today the cyclists had a busy
schedule having two (2) stages in the same day, combining
an individual time trial and a road race.
Early this morning, teams left for St-Félix-de-Dalquier
to take part in the individual time trials. It was a
12,4 km route ending in Amos where cyclists had to give
the best of themselves to show their individual capacity.
The United-States dominated the podium with two cyclists
from the national team and one from the American regional
Colavita-Baci U19 team. Number 34, Colby Wait-Molyneux
from the USA national team had the best time with 15:09:40
minutes. The silver medalist, number 182, Michael Reidenback
from the Colavita-Vaci U19 team, raced the course in
15:13:10, only a few thousands of a second faster than
number 32, Kristopher Jorgenson from the national team
who won the bronze medal.
As for the jerseys, New-Zealand still continues to
dominate with number 42, James Oram keeping the brown
jersey and number 41, Dion Smith the orange jersey.
The blue jersey went from José Aguire from Mexico
to number 34, Colby Wait-Molyneux from the American
national team.
Stage 4
Later in the afternoon, the cyclists left for Malartic
where they were warmly welcomed by the city's
residents for the stage sponsored by both the Fonds
Essor Malartic Osisko and the city of Malartic.
As well as starting the race in a suffocating heat,
after the first five (5) minutes the cyclists had to
face a heavy rainfall that happily did not last long.
Since the beginning of the Tour, the France national
team had been expected to perform, but we had to wait
until the fourth stage to see them mount the podium.
Number 12, Thibaut Boulanger won the gold medal, number
15, Anthony Morel silver and number 13, Kevin Goulot
the bronze.
New-Zealand was once again excellent thanks to number
42 James Oram who kept the brown jersey. Number 12,
Thibaut Boulanger from the France National team received
the orange jersey and number 34, Colby Wait-Molyneux
from the American national team kept the blue jersey.
We are now halfway into the Tour, and the finish line
has been moved to the Parc de la Cathédrale for
the last three (3) stages, where the cycling event will
continue on the urban course.
