08.09.11 -YOUNG CYCLING
TALENTS COME OUT AT CANADIAN TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS IN
BROMONT
Velodrome at National Cycling Centre Bromont
highlights many up-and-coming talent
(Bromont, QC – August 09, 2011) The best track
riders are gathered at the National Cycling Centre Bromont
for the presentation of the 2011 Canadian Track Cycling
Championships, and the best up and comers from the U17
category impressed the most hardcore fans of Canadian
cycling throughout the races on the newly resurfaced
track.
With the U17 races almost completed, we can start to
see those aspiring stars who have the necessary skills
to perform on the national and international tracks,
and Canada can be pleased to see an excellent group
of young riders trying to make it in the sport.
Amongst that complete group, we saw the talents of
Guillaume Rousselle (QC), Félix Couturier-Lamy
(QC), Henrick Pineda (QC), William Simmonds (Invita-FCV)
and Julien Roussel (Atlantic) who are currently fighting
a hard race towards the end of the six-race Omnium event.
With one race to go, the title is still up for grabs
and no-one can take a podium spot for granted.
In the women’s U17 Omnium race, Marie-Ève
Poisson (QC) took the Canadian title -the only title
available for that age category- but Ariane Bonhomme
(QC) and Bailin Xie (Ottawa Bicycle Club) both gave
her some stiff competition during the entire event,
taking respectively the second and third positions.
Only the Omnium race was presented amongst the U17
age category, as the event showcases both endurance
and speed events.
Tomorrow, the final race of the men’s U17 omnium
will be held, as well as the remaining junior races
and the continuation of the Elite races.
