TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS END WITH PARACYCLING AND MASTERS
RACES
(Bromont, QC – August 13, 2011) After a week
of exciting cycling races, the Canadian Track Championships
ended in Bromont, Québec, with the presentation
of both the Para-cycling and Masters championship categories
on the newly resurfaced velodrome at the National Cycling
Centre Bromont.
The tandem of William Stanley and Doug Baron had an
excellent weekend of racing, grabbing the Canadian title
in the 200m as well as the Kilo. Brayden McDougall of
Calgary won the title in both of his race, the time
trials as well as the individual pursuit.
These para-cycling championships were highlighted by
the strong return of Brian Cowie, along with his new
guide Ed Veal. Cowie won a bronze medal at the 2009
World Championships in Manchester.
The masters also took the track at these Canadian Championships.
Riders from three categories participated in both sprint
and endurance events.
The 2012 Canadian Track Championships will be held
in Dieppe, New-Brunswick, next summer.
The complete results can be found on www.canadian-cycling.com
in the Canadian Track Championships section.
The 2011 Canadian Championships season is now over.
Since June, the Canadian Cycling Association in collaboration
with provincial cycling associations, hosted Canadian
Championships in road cycling, mountain bike cross-country,
mountain bike downhill, bmx and track cycling, which
included full integration for para-cycling for the road
and track events.
