12.12.11 -The
CCA Welcomes David Cathcart to the Board of Directors
The Canadian Cycling Association is pleased to welcome
David Cathcart to its Board of Directors. David is an
accomplished sales executive in the cycling industry
and is currently the Vice President of Global Sales
for Saris Cycling Group which specializes in racks,
indoor trainers and power measurement products which
are sold under the Saris, CycleOps and Graber brands.
Mr. Cathcart’s appointment to the CCA Board came
about due to the resignation of a Board member after
one year of his two year term. The by-laws of the association
require the Board to fill the vacancy by appointment.
CCA President John Tolkamp was pleased that there were
a number of very solid candidates who were willing to
be considered for the appointment. “Through this
exercise of calling on our cycling community to identify
candidates for this Board appointment we have been pleased
to learn of the willingness on the part of many top
calibre people to serve the association. This speaks
well for the future of the association and its governance”;
said Tolkamp.
As the newest member to the Board, David is looking
forward to an orientation and getting up to speed on
the main areas of focus for the CCA Board and noted;
“After many years watching the positive development
of cycling in Canada, I'm excited and honoured to lend
a hand by serving on the Board of the CCA".
The position is for the duration of the term concluding
at the 2012 Annual General Meeting.
