World Championships
The Canadian Cycling Association is
pleased to announce the team that
will represent Canada at the 2008
UCI Track World Championships that
commence tomorrow, March 26 in Manchester,
Great Britain. The event concludes
on Sunday, March 30, 2008.

2008 National Mountain Bike Calendar
February 27, 2008 – The Canadian
Cycling Association is pleased to
unveil the 2008 National Mountain
Bike Calendar. Seven (7) sites will
welcome the best mountain bikers of
Canada and elsewhere. On the schedule
are 9 Olympic cross-country events,
6 downhill events and two four-cross
events.

to conclude a track cycling World
Cup competition in Copenhagen.

February 16 2008 – Quebecois
cyclist Martin Gilbert had one of
his best performances yet in World
Cup track cycling Saturday in Copenhagen,
taking fifth place in the scratch
race.

World Cup - Tara Whitten - Continual
Progress On Track
February 15 2008 – Edmonton
native Tara Whitten finished eighth
in the Individual Pursuit race at
the Copenhagen Track World Cup. Whitten
most recently was a part of the Canadian
National cross country ski team, but
converted to cycling after her victory
in the Individual Pursuit at last
summer’s Canadian Track Championships.

Three
Canadian mountain bike teams will
get UCI status in 2008
February 15, 2008 – Ottawa,
ON - The Canadian Cycling Association
wishes to announce that three Canadian
mountain bike teams will be approved
for UCI status. The UCI status is
the highest rank a mountain bike team
can get. Rocky Mountain, Norco World
Team and Primary-Devinci are the likely
candidates to become UCI teams.

The Canadian Cycling Association is
pleased to announce the team that
will represent Canada at the 4th round
of the UCI Track World Cup being held
in Copenhagen, Denmark from February
15-17, 2008.

Cyclo-cross World Championships -Elite
Men & Women
Treviso, Italy - The 2008 Cyclo-cross
World Championships concluded on Sunday
with the elite men's and women's events.
Hanka Kupfernagel of Germany took
her fourth world title in the women's
race in a time of 45 minutes and 15.55
seconds.

World Championships - JR and U23 Men
Treviso, Italy - The Cyclo-cross World
Championships opened on Saturday with
the Junior and Under-23 men's age
categories events. Arnaud Jouffroy
of France won the Junior event with
a time of 40 minutes and 30 seconds,
with the only Canadian entry, David
Larson of Edmonton, AB finishing 49th,
four minutes and 18 seconds behind
the winner.

Mathieu Boucher moves to CCA from
FQSC
January 25th, 2008 - The Canadian
Cycling Association (CCA) and the
Fédération québécoise
des sports cyclistes are proud to
announce the appointment of Mathieu
Boucher as Director, Development for
the CCA, commencing April 1st, 2008.
Boucher is currently the Technical
Director for Mountain Bike, a position
he has held since 2003.

is pleased to announce the 2008 BMX
National Calendar. Since the number
of events sanctioned by the Union
Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is limited,
only 2 events will appear on the 2008
calendar.

Cup track cycling - Bell and McKenzie
13th in Madison final
January 20, 2008 – Zach Bell
of Watson Lake, Yukon, and Ryan McKenzie
of Calgary were 13th Sunday in the
Madison race at a track cycling World
Cup competition in Los Angeles. They
were the only Canadian duo to advance
to the final. Along with the U.S.,
and Polish pairs, they did not complete
the final.

The Canadian cycling association (CCA)
is pleased to announce the 2008 National
Road Calendar. Fourteen (14) events
will be presented in 2008, nine (9)
of which being sanctioned by the Union
Cycliste Internationale (UCI). This
is three more then in 2007.

Track
cycling – World Cup - Gina Grain
the top Canadian in fourth
December 9, 2007 – Gina Grain
of Vancouver nearly won a medal in
the scratch race this weekend at a
World Cup track cycling competition
in Beijing. Grain, a silver medallist
in the event in 2006 World Championships,
was the top Canadian at the second
stop on the circuit finishing fourth.
