01.17.07 - UCI AFFILIATED TRADE TEAM VIA THE CANADIAN CYCLING ASSOCIATION (CCA) – MOUNTAIN BIKE

Trade Team Definition:
A Trade Team is an incorporated or registered organization whose purpose is to promote itself, its sponsors and/or members through cycling events.

Typically, riders would enter into a contractual relationship with the team / business in order to outline matters of mutual expectation and compensation.

A UCI affiliated Trade Team must be formed by a group of athletes in the same discipline. The UCI only registers teams in the Junior/Elite category in downhill/4X and in the U23/Elite category for cross-country.

CCA Services & Support:
It is a priority for the Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) to continue to develop policies, programs, and services to support trade teams. The CCA is making a concerted effort to encourage affiliation by providing a direct communication link to support and facilitate the related administration of these teams.

The CCA will be able to provide affiliated CCA and CCA/UCI Trade Teams with the following services:

  • Access to participation statistics of national events;
  • Notification about invitational competition opportunities forwarded to the CCA by other cycling federations;
  • A CD of the CCA companion guide to the current UCI regulations;
  • A 36 meter square technical space allocated at National Calendar events site – (electricity, water and security at the cost of the team);
  • Logo placement of 64 cm square on National Team jersey for all selected athletes from a CCA or CCA/UCI Trade Team;
  • Mention of the Trade Team on the “Teams” section of the CCA website.
  • Mention of the Trade Team on the official results list during national events.
  • Specific benefits per discipline, gender and categories (see CCA).

UCI Services & Support:
The registration of a UCI MTB Team is an agreement which formally acknowledges a team. It also offers advantages for teams and riders, such as:

a) Direct participation (without any UCI point requested) to the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup events

b) Free participation to UCI World Cup events for the following teams:

First 5 Women UCI MTB Teams of the last UCI MTB World Cup Team standings

XCM (Cross-country Marathon format)
First 10 Men UCI MTB Teams of the last UCI MTB World Cup Team standings
First 5 Women UCI MTB Teams of the last UCI MTB World Cup Team standings

DHI (Individual downhill)
First 10 Men UCI MTB Teams of the last UCI MTB World Cup Team standings
First 5 Women UCI MTB Teams of the last UCI MTB World Cup Team standings

4X (4-Cross)
First 5 Men UCI MTB Teams of the last UCI MTB World Cup Team standings
First 3 Women UCI MTB Teams of the last UCI MTB World Cup Team standings

c) Free participation to UCI World Cup events for the following riders who belong to a UCI MTB Team:

XCO: first 20 riders (Men and Women) of the last individual standings who belong to a UCI MTB Team

XCM: first 10 riders (Men and Women) of the last individual standings who belong to a UCI MTB Team

4X: first 10 riders (Men and Women) of the last individual standings who belong to a UCI MTB Team

d) Free of charge ground surface of 60m2 for the UCI MTB World Cup events. Supplies, such as water, electricity and caretaking remain chargeable to the UCI MTB Teams using the sites.

e) Technical assistance between team mates of a UCI MTB Team. Possibility to exchange equipment outside the feed / technical assistance zones (art. 4.2.047).

f) Publication of a UCI MTB Team ranking based on the results (individual UCI rankings) of each rider (art. 4.8.009). There will be in total 8 UCI MTB Teams rankings (XCO, XCM, DHI, 4X, Men and Women).

g) Publication of UCI MTB World Cup Team standings based on the results (individual World Cup results) of the 3 best riders of each UCI MTB Team. Note that in 2007 there will be 8 UCI MTB World Cup Team standings in total (XCO, XCM, DHI, 4X, Men and Women).

h) Support of the UCI Disciplinary and Appeals Commission. Access is automatically provided should a dispute arise between employer and employee. This is not only to protect riders whose contracts should not be honored by employers, but also to protect employers should an employee not fulfill his contractual obligations (e.g. return of the equipment, failure to attend events, etc.).

i) Information Service. The UCI has a great number of information services that can be accessed by UCI MTB Teams. We can provide you with any useful information or publication as well as with TV coverage statistics (newsletter).

j) Online registration to the UCI World Cup events. The UCI MTB Teams will be able to enter their riders directly through the UCI website. Once affiliated with the UCI, you will receive a login and a password enabling you to register your riders.

k) Presentation of the UCI MTB Team on the UCI website with each team jersey and presence of the Team name on all results.

l) Rainbow pass (accreditation valid for all 2007 UCI MTB World Cup events) for each UCI MTB Team staff member.

PLEASE NOTE: there will be no specific rainbow pass request form for the 2007 season. A rainbow pass (accreditation valid for all 2007 UCI MTB World Cup events) will automatically be produced for each staff member mentioned in the registration form upon condition that you provide us with her/his license and her/his photo.

Concerning the number of riders per team, we inform you that a team can include a maximum of 20 riders per format. For the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup events, a maximum of 10 riders per format per team will be allowed to start.
