03.22.07 - Canada's Rico Morneau Second Overall Of The Wild West Hancycling Tour In Australia
March 22/07 (Ottawa, ON) – With a second place at the two last competitions on March 21 and 22, Rico Morneau of Montreal (QC) added a fifth medal to Canada’s count for the Wild West Hancycling Tour event and finishes second overall.
"Finishing second overall of the five races makes me feel very happy with my performances here," said Morneau, from Perth, in Western Australia. "But now I have to continue to train hard for a podium at the Worlds. My competitors are very strong."
After coming in second on Wednesday at the 46K road race at the hilly Chittering Valley venue, Morneau took a second position again today (Thursday) in the last event of the tour, a 15.2K uphill time trial in Kings Park.
"The road race was a good race for me on Wednesday. It was out in the country on a rough hilly road, and I felt really strong."
Morneau’s next race will be on April 7th in Roseneau, France. It will be the biggest handcycling race in Europe.
