05.26.06 - Mountain Bike Canada Cup Stage #2, Mont Tremblant (QC) May 26-27.
Ottawa, ON, May 26 - Following to a successful opening in Bromont (QC) last weekend, the mountain bike Canada and Québec Cups are making a stop at Mont Tremblant this weekend.
About 900 mountain bike enthusiasts will join in this weekend at Tremblant, in the Laurentians, for the second stage of the 2006 Canada and Québec Cups.
This weekend's programme includes cross-country and downhill competitions. The cross-country race will take place on Saturday May 27 in a 6 km-course featuring hills ans technical parts. First start will be at 9:00am for the younger categories and the senior elite categories will start at noon.
The downhill event will take place on Sunday May 28, on a very technical and spectacular race course of about 1.5 km long.
Last weekend in Bromont, the cross-country and downhill Canada Cup was a success (1 200 participants) despite heavy rain showers.
At the DEVINCI cross-country Canada Cup presented by Time on Saturday May 20, winners in the men's senior elite category were:
- Max Plaxton of Rocky Mountain-RP-VM Team, 1:46
- Ricky Federeau of Team R.A.C.E. com
- Raphaël Gagné, 1:52
In the men's junior experts, Alex Harvey took the first place way ahead.
In the women's senior elite:
- Mical Dyck
- Karen Dewolfe
- Catharine Pendrel
At the DEVINCI downhill Canada Cup presented by Rock Shox on Sunday May 21, winners in the men's senior elite category were:
- Éric Goss (5:10:23)
- Geoff Pendrel (5:12:26)
- Luke Kitzanuk (5:14:28)
Elite women
- Adrienne Miller (6:46.23)
- Caroline Milot (8:46.62)
- Sheila Morris (8:59.92)
