06.16.06 - Road cycling: Svein Tuft (BC) 4th at Tour de Beauce 4th stage. Mark Walters (ON) remains top Canadian.
Saint-Georges, QC, Friday June 16 - Canada's Svein Tuft (Langley (BC) took the 4th place at he 4th stage of the Tour de Beauce, held at Saint-Jean-De-La-Lande, a 15km- Time Trial. Mark Walters (ON) still holds the blue jersey of best Canadian.
US Danny Pate of Tiaa-Cref team won the Individual Time-Trial event today with a time of 20 :40, followed by Navigators Insurance's Valeriy Kobzarenko (Ukr) and teammate Sergey Lagutin (Uzb). Canadian national time trial champion Svein Tuft of Symmetrics earned a great 4th position, with a time of 21 :16. He was just recovering from an infection he picked up back from the Pan American Championships, CCA's coach Vincent Jourdain said.
The top Canadian at theTour de Beauce final standings is Ontario's Mark Walters (Peterborough) in 14th.
"The Tour de Beauce is going on pretty good for the Navigators Team so far, says Walter. We already won two stages and hold the yellow jersey. We just have to be careful in the next couple of days to maintain the position - unlike we did at yesterday' stage- and we have great hopes for tomorrow's race in Québec City."
The criterium competition, a 60 km race course in Saint-Georges' city centre is held tonight, followed by Québec City's 125 km-circuit, departing at 12 :15pm on Grande-Allée.
