Mont-Sainte-Anne (QC), June 25, 2006 - Coming from behind on the final lap, local girl Marie-Hélène Prémont once
again made the most of home advantage to come out on top of eternal rival Gunn-Rita Dahle (NOR) for the second
year in a row at Mont-Sainte-Anne. The 250 UCI points catapult her above the German Sabine Spitz into second
place in the UCI World Cup rankings, while the day saw Seamus McGrath put in his best-ever World Cup
performance, coming in fifth. There were also solid performances from British Columbia's Kiara Bisaro and Alison
Sydor, who finished 10th and 14th respectively in a strong field.

All eyes were on local racer Marie-Hélène Prémont, from nearby Château-Richer, but several other Canadian women
put in strong times, notably Kiara Bisaro (Courtenay, BC, 10th) and Alison Sydor (North Vancouver, BC, 14th). Karen
De Wolfe (Fredericton, New Brunswick, 20th), Wendy Simms (22nd), Catherine Pendrel (Penticton, BC, 24th) and
Patricia Sinclair (Victoria, BC, 28th) also ensured the rest of Canada was not forgotten in the celebrations.
But, aside from Marie-Hélène Prémont, the Canadian performance of the day belonged to Seamus McGrath of
Victoria, British Columbia. Coming in six minutes behind winner Christoph Sauser of Switzerland was enough to
ensure a fifth-place finish. Ricky Federau, from Abbotsford, British Columbia, finished 23rd and reigning Canadian
champion Raphaël Gagné of nearby Lac-Beauport was the first rider from Québec to finish, in 33rd place.
