08.10.06 - Julie Beveridge (AB) 20th in the time-trial event today
August 10, 2006 (Spa Francorchamps, Belgium) - Day 1 - Julie Beveridge (AB) placed 20th in the time trial event of the Junior Worlds today, while Mark Hinnen (ON) finished 47th and first Canadian.
Alberta’s Julie Beveridge, placed 20th in the time-trial event of the Junior World Road Championships which started today, with a time of 20:25:25, at 1:32 behind winner Rebecca Spence of New Zealand. Danielle Kenny (Calgary, AB) finished in 25th place with a time of 20:45:86, at 1:52 of the winner. The course was very slippery with rain and the oil present on the Spa-Francorchamps car racing circuit.
Mark Hinnen (Oakville, ON) finished top Canadian in 47th position with a time of 37:33:52. Eric Smith (Calgary, AB) fell after only 2km, ending up in hospital where he underwent surgery for fractured collarbone.
