Day 6: August 27, 2006 - ELITE XC - BRONZE FOR PREMONT
Marie-Hélène Prémont won her first-ever world championships medal today, finishing third in the elite women's cross-country. Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjaa of Norway takes her third consecutive title. In the men's race, Julien Absalon of France won for the third year in a row, while Seamus McGrath was top Canadian in 25th.
Other Canadians: Elite women - Alison Sydor 9th, Kiara Bisaro 14th, Wendy Simms 31st, Catherine Pendrel 32nd; Elite men - Ricky Federeau 35th, Geoff Kabush 36th, Mathieu Toulouse 48th.

Day 5: August 26, 2006 - DOWNHILL - BRONZE FOR GATTO
In a very small field of three riders, Micayla Gatto won her second consecutive junior women's downhill bronze medal today. Tracey Hannah of Australia won the title. Danika Schroeter (13th) was top Canadian in the elite women's race, won by Sabrina Jonnier of France. New Zealand scored a home victory with Cameron Cole taking the junior men's downhill title, which Canadian Steve Smith had a great ride for 6th. Andrew Mitchell (27th) was top Canadian in the elite men's race, won by Samuel Hill of Australia.
Other Canadians: Elite women - Claire Buchar 15th, Adrienne Miller 18th; Elite men - Luke Kitzanuk 32nd, Tyler Morland 42nd.

Day 4: August 25, 2006 - U23 MEN'S XC - BRONZE FOR PLAXTON
Max Plaxton has won Canada's first medal of the championships, finishing third in the U23 men's race. Nino Schurter won yet another gold for Switzerland. Other Canadians: Derek Zandstra 18th, Martin Lazarski 23rd, Neal Kindree 40th, Raphael Gagne 44th.

Day 3: August 24, 2006 - JUNIOR MEN'S XC, DOWNHILL SEEDING RUNS
Alex Harvey was Canada's top finisher in 23rd position in the junior men's cross-country today. Switzerland swept the podium, with Mathias Flückiger winning the title. Other Canadians: Francis Morin 31st, Cody Canning 41st.

The downhill seeding runs went well for Canada. Micayla Gatto was 4th junior woman; Steve Smith was 3rd junior man; Danika Schroeter was 4th elite woman; and Andrew Mitchell was 30th elite man.

Day 2: August 23, 2006 - JUNIOR AND U23 WOMEN'S XC
Emily Batty (14th junior woman) and Meghan Kindree (19th U23 woman) were the top finishers for Canada today. Tanya Zakelj (SLO) won the junior race, while China's Ren Chengyuan won the U23 title. Other Canadians: Junior - Alexandra Gelinas-Hamelin 20th; U23 - Jean-Ann McKirdy 20th, Catherine Vipond 23rd

Day 1: August 22, 2006 - TEAM RELAY Canada, represented by Geoff Kabush, Max Plaxton, Alex Harvey and Alison Sydor, finished 9th today in the team relay. The Swiss team defended its title, followed by Italy and Poland.
