October 10, 2006 (Ottawa, ON) - Dominique Rollin (Boucherville, QC) placed 10th in the Herald Sun Tour road race in Australia Monday, and 22nd in today’s road race, third stage of the event, thus deserving the third place in the general classification.

Québec’s Dominique Rollin of the Canadian National Team was among the race favourites in the massive breakaway start Monday. As the group leaders approached the finish, Rollin made an aggressive attack but race favourite Australia’s Simon Gerrans counter attacked and finished one place ahead of Rollin.

Today Tuesday, the third stage of the Herald Sun Tour featured a 158.5 km road race between Bendigo and Nagambie. Ontario’s Mark Walters of the Navigators Team was top Canadian, in 7th.

Australia’s Karl Menzies won the stage, thus earning the event leader’s jersey.

The Herald Sun Tour will run until October 14, 2006. Tomorrow, the event will feature the Mitchelton Winery (Nagambie) to Benalla 178.4km road race.
