10.27.06 - Cyclist Robert Brisson dies in tragic accident – Donations to his family
The Canadian Cycling Association was very sad to learn the death of Robert Brisson, an enthusiast master cyclist from Québec, who made many contributions to the sport. He leaves behind his wife Sylvie and their two young children Vincent and Émilie.
Robert Brisson, 43, worked as a training counselor at the PEAK Centre in Montreal, and was also a coach at Montreal’s Vélo Club Sud-Ouest with Czeslaw Lukaszewicz, a cycling club he founded.
He had been involved in the cycling community for more than two decades. He started his career as an amateur cyclist and won many victories and titles on the North American circuit, such as the 2003 Canadian Track Champion and 2005 Québec Track Champion.
Robert was held in great esteem and known for his great generosity and kindness.
He has died tragically following a hit and run this past Friday, October 20, while cycling home from work at Montreal’s PEAK Centre.
"He was a model employee in all regards; punctual, honest, motivated, someone you could trust no matter what," said Peak Centre's Spokesman Pierre Hutsebaut, inviting the persons wishing to donate to his family to contact the PEAK centre (6982 Côte de Liesse, Montreal, H4T 1Y5, tel. 514-341-7325).
"I have known Robert quite well and had the opportunity to train him as a coach and to discuss with him at many occasions about our role as cycling coaches. I also had a chance to value his work at the National Track Championships. Robert was always in a good mood and ready to support others. The cycling community will miss him a lot," stated Vincent Jourdain, Canadian Cycling Association National Coach.
Our thoughts go out to his family and numerous friends with whom he shared his passion for cycling.
