12.15.06 - Canada's Zach Bell (YK) and Gina Grain (BC) finished in 9th and 12th in the endurance events of the Moscow's UCI Track World Cup # 2 presented at the Krylatskoye velodrome today.
Zach Bell (Whitehorse, YK, residing in Kingston, ON) took the 9th place in the men's 4 K individual pursuit Friday, which was dominated by Robert Bartko (GER), Robert Hayles (GBR) and Paul Manning (RCY) for the spots one to three on the podium. Russia's Alexander Serov came in fourth and is still leading the World Cup standings after the Moscow World Cup stage. "Bell showed a marked improvement from Sydney, finishing ninth in 4-32.938," as reported Mat Booth's www.trackcycling.info.
Gina Grain of Victoria, BC, took the 12th position in the women's points race 20 K final, with points earned at the fifth sprint out of ten. Italian Giorgia Bronzini took first place, followed by Cuban Yoanka Gonzalez Perez and Russian Yulia Arustamova.
Tomorrow Saturday, December 16th, Zach Bell will take part in the men's points race (15 K qualifying - 2 heats; final 30 K).
