(Ottawa ON) – After reviewing the incident that took place during the podium ceremony at the National Mountain Bike Downhill Championships in Whistler, BC, on July 22, Danika Schroeter’s racing licence will be suspended for three months.

(Ottawa, ON) – IPC European Cup 2006 Rankings - Canada’s Jean Quévillion (Ste-Adèle, QC) and Brayden McDougall (Calgary, AB) are at the top of the 2006 European Cup rankings in paralympic cycling (1st and 3rd), Germany-based European Cup organizer announced today.

(Munich, Germany) – Paralympic Cycling European Cup - Canada’s Jean Quévillion (Ste-Adèle, QC) won the Individual Time Trial event Sunday, while team mates Éric Bourgault (Orford, QC), Mark Breton (Charlesbourg, QC) and Brayden McDougall (Calgary, AB) made it for top ten among fierce world-class competition at the final European Cup event this weekend.

(São Paulo, Brazil) – UCI BMX World Championships Day 3 – Canada's Ilana Just (Red Deer, AB) won the silver medal in the 10 girls category at today's final Challenge class event, to conclude the 2006 UCI BMX World Championships on a positive note for Team Canada.

(Mount Whashington, B.C.) – 2006 Canada Cup - The best Canadian downhill riders challenged Mt. Washington’s slippery course today at the final stage of the 2006 Canada Cup, where Adrienne Miller (Courtenay, B.C.) and Geoff Pendrel (Victoria, B.C.) performed the best time in the Elite category. Miller was also crowned Women Elite’s 2006 Canada Cup Champion, as was Luke Kitzanuk (Vancouver, B.C.) in the Elite Men.

(São Paulo, Brazil) – Canadian BMX team ready for Worlds -Canada placed 8 of the 11 riders in attendance with the national team in mains last weekend at the final pre-worlds tune up event in São Paulo, Brazil. This event, which was held on the worlds track, gave our athletes the opportunity to ride the course before the World Championships begins today.

(Ottawa ON) - New-Brunswick Mountain Bike Cup cancelled
The CCA has been advised by Donald Dumas, President of Montagnard Bike Club, that the cross-country mountain bike New-Brunswick Cup (UCI E3), which was scheduled on August 12, 2006 at Campbellton, has to be cancelled. The reasons cited were lack of funding and conflicting events which will prevent the event organizer from hosting this event as originally scheduled. The Montagnard Bike Club apologizes for any inconvenient caused by the cancellation of the event.

(Ottawa ON) - 2006 VeloFest Cancellation
The organizers of the VeloFest event, scheduled for the weekend of August 24-26, have informed the Canadian Cycling Association that the event will not go ahead in 2006 due to difficulties in securing funding in a timely manner. The organizers are confident that the event will go ahead in 2007 as much of the preparation work already done will be carried over to next year.

Recently crowned National Champions Marie-Hélène Prémont (Chateau-Richer, QC) and Geoff Kabush (Victoria, BC) leaded the event. Emily Batty (ON) and Francis Morin (QC) took the first place in the junior category.

MTB Downhill selection for World Championships - In keeping with the principle of pre-selecting world championship medalists for the following year's worlds, the CCA would like to clarify that Micayla Gatto is automatically selected to the 2006 junior downhill worlds team. Gatto won bronze in the 2005 junior worlds and is still in the junior category this year. In the case of other outstanding performances, the CCA reserves the right to add another junior woman to the worlds team.
