In 2008: competing at first Olympic Games…collected
two fourth place international results …Races
professionally for Webcor which includes compatriots
Erinne Willocks and Gina Grain…At the 2007
world championships finished ninth despite a fall
in the last lap…Competed at the 2006 World
Championships in Austria, finishing 23rd in the
road race (did not finish the time trial)…Other
career highlights include winning the 2006 Canadian
Championships in the time trial and road race,
the 2006 World Championships road race result
(23rd), and finishing 2nd at the 2006 Tour of
Toona…first international competition was
the 2006 Montréal World Cup where she finished
12th… trains in Regina, Saskatchewan and
Tucson, Arizona, USA…suffered a broken hand
in 2004, forcing her to miss the entire season…coached
by Paul Kelly since 2006…previous clubs
are Regina Cycle Club and H&R Block…a
former speed skater, she was introduced to cycling
as part of her cross training program in 2002,
and started racing locally in 2003…competed
in both the winter and summer Canada Games –
in 2003, she won two silver (1000m, 3000m) and
one bronze (1500m) at the Canada Winter Games;
in 2005, she won a silver medal in the cycling
criterium (after crashing while in the lead with
10 laps to go) at the Canada Summer Games in front
of her hometown crowd)…most inspired by
her mentor Olympic speed skating/cycling Olympic
medalist Clara Hughes, for winning medals in two
different Olympic sports…most admires her
mother because of her work ethic and that she
is always there for her…nominated the 2006
Saskatchewan Athlete of the Year…
Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan where
she attended Dr. Martin Leboldus High School…studying
computer technology at the Southern Alberta Institute
of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary, Alberta…plans
to be a web system developer…preferred first
name is Alex…mother is a system development
manager for Cooperator’s Life Insurance…father
is a computer programmer…has three younger
siblings (two brothers, one sister)…favourites
include chocolate, Olympic medalist Clara Hughes,
speed skating, the movie Grease and music by Fleetwood
